MANSFIELD, Pa. – Hosting Mansfield University scored a goal 43 seconds into sudden-death overtime Wednesday afternoon to hand Slippery Rock University a 2-1 loss in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women’s field hockey action.

The loss was second overtime setback this fall for first-year head coach Sarah Dunn’s squad and dropped SRU to 1-4 overall, 1-2 in PSAC play. Mansfield improved to 1-2, 1-0.

Christine Waldhima (fr., Nairobi, Kenya) scored the only goal for The Rock, off an assist from Katie Krochmal (jr., Quakertown/Quakertown HS).

Rock goalies Kristin Sands (Reading/Oley Valley HS) and Tara Bailey combined to turn away 10 Mansfield shots on goal.

The Rock returns to action next Thursday, Sept. 18, when it travels to Lock Haven University for a 7 p.m. PSAC game.
